According to the operation specifications authorized by the Special Unit of the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia (UAEAC), in the following methods:

Aerocontrol follows the procedures and standards accepted and used internationally, in each Non Destructive Testing Method.

 Non-destructive Tests by EDDY CURRENT Method
The EDDY CURRENT method may be by high frequency (ETHF) or EDDY CURRENT by low frequency (ETLF).

 

 

 

Application:

Detects flaws and cracks on surfaces and sub surfaces on ferromagnetic and non ferromagnetic materials.
Material characterization through the measurement of its electrical conductivity.
Measurement of non conducting electrical protection layers.

ULTRASONIC Non-destructive Testing method, by direct contact and echo impulses, using digital and analogue equipments, original patterns as flaw simulation (standards for calibration), probes and sensors, according to the procedures of the aeronautical part companies.

 

 

 

Application:

Detection of material discontinuities through the volume of the piece tested.
Thickness measurement in any type of non porous solid material.
Disbound detection.
Corrosion detection.
This method requires an optimum combination, between the measurement sensor and the material tested. We take good care of the cleanliness and finishing touches which are very important in this method.

  • Transmitting elements and piezoelectric sensors, with different technical specifications, used for the electrical convertion to mechanical energy, for the discontinuity detection in this method.
  • Flaw simulation pattern procedures (traceable), with materials with the same characteristics on electrical conductivity and geometric form, and different technical specification sensors.

 Non-destructive Tests by MAGNETIC PARTICLES method, with application of wet or dry fluorescent particles.
Use: this inspection method is used to detect discontinuities of material in its surface and subsurface.

.Application:

This detection method is applicable to all ferromagnetic metallic materials

Aerocontrol is equipped and capable of offering:

  • Personnel which in addition to their vast experience, receive frequent training courses to be qualified and certificated according to the International standards for this method.
  • Horizontal bank (static) with FWDC, for energy application between contacts or through bobbin. Portable banks for magnetic particle application through AC and DC YOKES.
  •  To assure the fulfillment of the inspections according to the standard execution, Aerocontrol has sensors and indicators to control visible light, UV light intensity measurement, electrical energy control supplied to the contacts or through the use of bobbins, magnetization control of the pieces. As well as, demagnetization equipment (static bank and portable).
  • All elements used for our service under this inspection method are accomplished continuing the procedures and instructions, from the manufacturers of the aeronautical parts.

 

  Non-destructive Tests using RADIOLOGY method, with portable equipment and the application of films according to the specifications in grain and speed posted in the requirements of these procedures.
Applied in nearly every material, leaving a permanent image for a later detailed visual analysis.

Application:

Using X rays makes it possible to detect superficial and internal cracks, no matter the volume of the material tested.

  • DT Technicians certified in radiological protection.
  • X ray radiation sources that meet the requirements of the procedures of the aeronautical parts manufacturers.
  • Signs to prevent radiation, in the site where the services are executed.
  • A dark room and with all the elements required to reveal the image from the films, as well as an industrial viewer (with intensity of lighting control) and density measurement to insure the quality of this method.

 Non-destructive Tests by PENETRANT LIQUIDS method, which can be fluorescent or visible, according to the required procedure.

.Application:

For non-porous metallic and non-metallic materials.
The surface of the piece under test must have ruggedness decrease and free of painting, coatings and corrosion.
Uses: superficial discontinuity detection caused by corrosion, lack of fusion, impurities or porosities in the material tested.

  • Personnel which in addition to their vast experience, receive frequent training courses to be qualified and certificated according to the International standards for this method.
  • All the components used in the Penetrating Liquids system meet the characteristics and specifications continuing the specifications of the written procedure and international standards.
  • Lamps for ultraviolet light production, sensors and indicators to measure visible and UV intensity light, calibrated according to the international standards for this method.
  • All elements used for our service under this inspection method are accomplished continuing the procedures and instructions, from the manufacturers of the aeronautical parts

 

 Non-destructive Tests by VISUAL method.

Application:

On every material.
Use: superficial crack detection on all materials that can have access by direct vision or with the help of visual transmission elements, such as the boroscope.

  • Periodical physical examinations applied to technicians made by specialists.
